In upholstered furniture, what is not necessarily apparent to the eye, is indeed what primarily contributes to the longevity performance and comfort of the item.

The frame must always be made of the finest kiln dried hard woods. We use ash, oak and maple to guarantee a frame that is virtually indestructible. Our frames are double doweled, glued and corner reinforced to ensure years of stability and reliable service.

The selection of the high quality padding materials is just as crucial to the longevity of
the furniture as the frame is. High quality padding materials are carefully selected to best perform with the fine fabric our customers provide.
A vast array of cushion fillers are made available to suit individual and specific needs. People are built differently and have different preferences as to how they like to sit.
Our clients have the ability to choose from basic high density hypoallergenic polyurethane foam, to the finest blends of down and feathers, thoroughly sterilized and baffled in down proof ticking to minimize shifting.
Our regular sofas have 8 way hand tied sprung bases.
Careful cutting, pattern matching and sewing is the final hallmark of
an Avery Boardman masterpiece.

A quick guide on how to select and specify an Avery Boardman sofa or sofa bed.

  • Begin by making a style selection. Remember that all the sofas can be made with or without a bed mechanism in them. When specifying a regular sofa, always remember to add the initials "NB" (as in “no bed”) after the style number
  • Because each style is available in several standard lengths, select the size by consulting the corresponding  dimension chart. Should you need a specific dimension not listed in the chart, we can accommodate you with a custom frame. The style is mostly characterized by the arm. Style selection generally  revolves around the shape of the arm.
  • Select a filling material for the seat and back cushions. For tight back sofas and sofa-beds, there is no need to select  back cushion fillers. These are the standard filling materials available in our sofas and sofabeds:
    1. polydacron seats and dacron backs
    2. spring and dacron seats and dacron backs
    3. foam and down seats, down & feather backs
    4. spring and down seats , down & feather backs
    5. Down & feather seats , down & feather backs
    6. All down and feathers seats and back
  • All details are interchangeable between styles. Skirts, legs, welting, number of seat and back cushions, can be specified. Tailoring details can also be customized .  The height and shape of the skirt, the detail of an arm or how many pleats appear along the front of the skirt is all up to you.
  • Whenever wooden bases or legs are selected, they can be finished in black, walnut, darkwalnut, mahogany or natural.  legs and bases are normally made of solid maple.
  • All styles are available with the following size mechanisms and mattresses:
    1. 65" super queen
    2. 60 queen
    3. 53 full or double
    4. 40 three quarter
    5. 37 twin
    6. 24 chair bed

  • The overall length of the sofa-bed will mostly be dictated by the width of the mattress. Please refer to the individual charts to determine which size best suits your needs.
  • We offer 4  types of mattresses in our sofa-beds.
    1. 4" qualuxe foam
    2. 5.5" tufted innerspring
    3. 5.5" reversible quilted
    4. 11" airluxe (only available in 60" and 53")

All our sofa-beds are equipped with our exclusive "steelweave " mechanism.

The steelweave mechanism is completely made of steel. No polypropylene deck (blue or gray synthetic canvas) is used in our mechanism. An all steel mechanism is the only way to  provide a sag less frame.
Our mechanism is equipped with a head-rest feature for added comfort when reading or watching television.
